DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management turns ten
  • Cross-brand supplier of financial services and passenger car fleet management
  • Ongoing growth: Current portfolio comprises 680 company fleets with a contract volume of around €850 million
  • FleetPlus product package for small and mid-sized vehicle fleets
Stuttgart, July 24, 2007 – In the ten years since it was founded, DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management GmbH, a subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler Bank, has become one of the leading suppliers of passenger car fleet management services in Germany. The company’s portfolio currently comprises around 680 fleets with a contract volume of over €850 million. Headquartered in Stuttgart, the company has been growing steadily since its launch in 1997.
“We’ve been serving many customers for many years with solutions that are tailored to meet their needs,” reports Harald Schneefuß, Managing Director of DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management GmbH. “More and more large fleets are now being managed entirely by external service providers.”
DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management was founded in July 1997 as debis Car Fleet Management GmbH in order to offer cross-brand fleet management services to all fleet operators. In addition to service leasing, customers were initially also offered driver support, claims management and online reporting. An automatic online tool called xFleet was introduced in 2003, enabling vehicle users to complete the order process independently. xFleet also allows the fleet controlling process to be adapted to the customer’s own systems.
The standardized FleetPlus product package, which combines leasing and service components, was developed specifically for operators of small and mid-sized fleets of between ten and 30 vehicles. Customers with larger fleets can put together their own packages of additional services as required.
Demand for fleet management services has risen steadily in recent years, and DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management expects this trend to continue. “We believe that there is still great demand for advice, especially among mid-sized companies,” says Schneefuß.
Another promising segment is fleets used for advertising purposes or incentives. Last year DaimlerChrysler Fleet Management concluded a service leasing contract with Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG for 555 smart fortwo convertibles. Deutsche Vermögensberatung AG offers the vehicles as rewards to successful consultants. “The smart fortwo is a well-established fleet vehicle, and it’s highly popular,” states Schneefuß.
